Yaburu Bulmba fashion design

Congratulations to the 7 Yaburu Bulmba students selected to design garments for this year’s Cairns Indigenous Art Fair ‘CIAF ’25 Fashion Performances: Look & Listen’ as part of a guest collaboration with TAFE.

The girls met with Lynelle Flinders, director and curator of the Fashion Performances, at TAFE Queensland Cairns Campus recently last week, sharing their creativity, imagination and skills through their fashion designs.

Lynelle shared her knowledge and experience within the fashion industry and presented the girls with a lesson on weaving and creating their own stencils for screen printing onto different types of fabrics.
